O’jez Soccer Fans Nite Out honors Olympic Gold medalist Chioma Ajunwa, Murphy Jemba Today
FOR making Nigeria proud 20 years ago at the Atlanta Olympics with the country’s first ever Olympic gold medal, O’jez monthly Soccer Fans/Celebrity Nite Out will on Saturday, September 24 honor Chioma Ajunwa who is also a policewoman.
The night will also be used to celebrate ace broadcaster, Murphy Jemba of Brila FM. Both personalities will receive the O’jez Life Achievements Award on a night that will also be loaded with music, dance and comedy as fast rising comedian MC Phrymzo will be on hand to thrill the audience. MC Short Family is guest comedian while the O’jez Three Wise Men band will hold all hostages in the planned three hours event billed to begin from 7pm at the open section of O’jez celebrity restaurant, inside the National Stadium premises, Surulere-Lagos.
Saturday’s event will be the fifth edition of the newly introduced O’jez Soccer Fans/Celebrity Nite Out. The maiden edition held on Saturday, May 28 honored former Nigeria national team goalkeeper and captain, Peter Rufai, sports journalist and publisher of Complete Sports, Mumuni Alao as well as popular comedian Gbenga Adeyinka.
The oncoming event according to Chief Executive Officer of O’jez, Chief Joseph Odobeatu, is expected “to attract over 2, 000 soccer fans and is designed to create a platform for brands to have a one on one contact with soccer fans, showcase the activities of the Nigeria Premier League as well international football, promote peace, love and unity among Nigerian soccer fans and to appreciate, honour and celebrate Nigerian ex-internationals, sports media personalities, corporate firms and entertainers for their contributions to the growth and development of football and entertainment in Nigeria.”
The event will also feature various activities ranging from ball joggling competition, soccer game show and a raffle draw.
“It will be a night of music, dance, comedy and football all rolled into one,” Odobeatu said adding, “Fast rising comedian MC Phrymzo alongside other fast rising comedians such as MC Bonus, MC Short Family among others will be on call to make football lovers rock with laughter. Dancers such as Crazy Legs, the physically challenged dancer, Scatter ‘N Sons, Ada Owerri, SDF among other dance groups will burn the stage that explosive evening. I can assure you that it will be an evening of high octane fun and entertainment,” Odobeatu submitted.
On the choice of Chioma Ajunwa and Murphy Jemba as recipients of the O’jez Lifetime Achievements Award, Odobeatu said they were carefully selected because of the roles they have played in the development of sports and entertainment in Nigeria. “Chioma Ajunwa won the only gold Nigeria has and Murphy Jemba has carved a niche for himself in the area of sports broadcasting and has a cult followership. For us at O’jez, we celebrate Nigerians who have done very well for themselves and country.”
