‘My Hand Nor Touch N400m PDP Election Money’, Governor Cries Out
GOVERNOR of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has debunked a report linking to an alleged diversion of N400 million allocated to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for last year’s presidential election.
Reports suggest Umahi used his firms, Osborn La-Palm Royal Resort Limited and Brass Engineering & Construction Nigeria Limited. to divert the said N400 million and used the money to build hotels.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Emma Anya, said his principal had nothing to do with the companies, having relinquished his interests in them before becoming governor.
Entitled ‘Umahi Not In Trouble And Will Never Be’, the governor made it clear that the information being bandied about by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the media against him was nothing new, but a rehash of what he called ‘stale’ news. “I am, therefore, at a loss on what they stand to gain by these publications. I state here once again that Governor Umahi established his business empire, including Osborn La Palm Royal Resort long before he became the deputy governor. He had, before serving as the state’s deputy governor, relinquished his interests in the companies he founded as required by law.”
