HAJJ 2017: Ogun RE-Inaugurates Committee On Pebble Throwing

The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has re-inaugurated its Pebbles Throwing Committee headed by Imam Mikail Rufai to draw a plan for the exercise, so as to prevent re-occurrence of 2015 stamped which claimed several lives at Jamrat a point of pebbles throwing in Mecca.

In his acceptance speech, the Cleric said that the committee would release a schedule in which the state’s pilgrims would be grouped into five with each group containing 250 delegates and the time perform the rigorous Hajj operation.

Imam Rufai added that the committee was set up at the inception of Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration with its primary objective to guide and protect the pilgrims at pebbles throwing site.

“At this significant place, the state had not recorded any report of casualty so far and we thank Allah for achieving that feat”, Rufai stated.

The Board official also acknowledged the unflinching supports they have received from the state governor in setting up such committee in order to guide against recording any casualty at the throwing of pebbles at the pebble site.

Rufai said that the Governor had vowed to make the welfare of the pilgrims a top priority, pointing out that the yearly monetary support of a hundred Riyadh to all the state’s pilgrims as clear evidence and pointer.

The Wakeelu of Ijebu Land noted that the provision of two ambulances at every ritual spot despite restriction by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to the ones located around the South Western Nigeria Pilgrims Camps in Saudi was another commitment.

Some of the pilgrims, Arikewuyo Sharafadeen and Agboke Muhedeen who called for improvement in the area of logistics, commended the state government and Hajj Officials for their restless efforts towards an acceptable holy pilgrimage in the Saudi cities.
