THE revered Oba of Benin in Edo State, Oba Ewuare 11, has been begged to stay out of the crisis rocking the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) to its foundation and which was sparked off by the reinstatement of Chief Tony Okoroji as the chairman of the society.
This is coming from a group of musicians who are loyal to Mr. Efe Omorogbe, who is also laying claim to the chairmanship of the board, days after members of COSON in Edo disowned Omorogbe and threatened to report him to the monarch.
In a statement signed by Mr. Pretty Okafor of the famed musical group, Junior and Pretty, the group narrated how the crisis in the house of COSON started and the interventions of well meaning Nigerians including the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) to nip it in its bud until the issue got to its head last week with the arrest and arraignment of Omorogbe for threat to life, forgery and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace by the police on the instructions of Okoroji.
The group which insisted that nothing will make them back down from its demand for a foresince audit of the account of COSON and said “Okoroji and his agents should do their best to maintain their futile run away from probe but should spare the good people of Edo State the insult of their warped logic.”
