HON. Ned Nwoko supporters have said that they will make an issue of the fraud case recently instituted against Senator Peter Nwaoboshi by  the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The anti-graft commission  recently sued the senator for allegedly defrauding Delta State Government of NN322m, an action which the politician and his army of supporters now see as  a campaign weapon against the senator presently representing Delta North Senatorial District.

Though has regained freedom by way of bail on self recognizance, according to a  source in the Ned Nwoko Campaign office told us that Nwoko, who has been criss-crossing the nooks and cranny of the nine local government areas that make up Delta North told us that with the detention and bail of the senator last week, Nwoko is now armed with additional point to nail Nwaoboshi at every of his campaign ground and town hall meetings.

“Though, we are aware of the legal implications of commenting on issues that are already in court, we will find a way of telling the masses not to cast their vote for people who have criminal and fraudulent baggage; people who will come and use their position to steal the state blind. We are happy about his travail. Delta North people are not known for that attitude. So we do not know where he got that character from,” our source said.

Nwoko, a lawyer had made his intention to wrestle the senatorial position known to the electorate in the senatorial district since last year, and has backed it up with a highly organized campaign team while Nwaoboshi who is also the Senate Committee Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and also a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman for Delta State, has not been relaxing on his oars in an effort to win the party’s nomination to contest the senatorial election again.

He was credited with the successful reception and endorsement of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as Anioma sole governorship candidate for second term in office by the people of Delta North, that is also known as Anioma. Nwaoboshi was the chairman of the organizing committee of that highly successful reception which held in Asaba two weeks ago but the ongoing case with EFCC remains a big cross the former commissioner in Chief James Ibori government will bear for a long time to come.
