OGUN MDAs Charged On Cost Effective, Efficient 2019 Bugget

MINISTRIES, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government in Ogun State have been charged to contribute meaningfully towards achieving a cost effective and efficient 2019 Budget that would accelerate the implementation of the government mission to rebuild the state through the five Cardinal programs of the State.
The Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun gave this charge while addressing key stakeholders in the state budget implementation at the final Treasury Board meeting of his administration on 2019 budget held Obas’ complex oke mosan, Abeokuta.
Amosun said his administration has been committed  to ensuring delivery of good governance by eradicating illiteracy, improving health care delivered, encourage agricultural production and industrialization among others.
He enjoined them to uphold the standard that the State had been known for by being thorough in their presentations and deliberations.
According to him, the meeting was crucial to the socio-economic development of the state as it created avenue to engender civil and public servants ideas, understanding, cooperation and speedy service delivery.
In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms Adenrele Adesina pointed out that budget processes and implementation must be seen as an important exercise of team work, transparency and accountability.
“We have individual responsibilities in Government but we are called to deliver these responsibilities in pursuit of the collective goals of our state and the effectiveness of this exercise will impact the pace of our progress” Adenrele said.
According to her, MDA’s should expect aggressive scrutiny of their revenues in line with expenditure request for the State to meet up with the expectation of at least 70% budget performance annually.
“In addition, Ogun State has signed up to the World Bank’s State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability Programme for Results know as SFTAS. This means that the effectiveness of our budgeting has become even more consequential as there is a financial reward attached to
obtaining budget performance of at least 70% annually, which means that as a State, we should target 75% sustainably”. The Commissioner explained.
